Hello,  I’m Catharine and I am an artist currently living and working in Edinburgh. My art is an ongoing documentation of where I spend my time.

Drawing or painting directly from observation underpins my work. I aim to develop a series of works in response to a place, the individual works can also be viewed as separate pieces. I work in watercolour, oil and print. My connection with the land stems from growing up in Kilkeel, a market town in Northern Ireland where the Mourne Mountains are a dramatic backdrop to the town and the impressive fishing port.

I have a deep rooted appreciation of how man works and lives with the land- and sea. Inspiration from the ever changing mountain terrain in Cyprus, the drama of the Mont Blanc Range, the allotments, Rivers and Harbours have been my inspiration.
